While this can be done, Bridger Steel NEVER recommends installing new metal panels over shingles.
If you're installing a new metal roof, our team NEVER recommends installing it overtop of any existing roofing materials, including shingles. Here's why:
- You can easily miss any damages, water spots, mold, or other issues that may be underneath the old singles or materials
- If these are missed, you may have to remove the panels a few years down the road to address the issues
- It can void certain warranties
