Shou Sugi Ban is the process of weatherproofing wood siding by charring the exterior face of the board. While the technique originated in 18th century Japan, it has become popular in recent years as a modern, architectural finish for facades of both residential and commercial designs.
Combining the aesthetic value of Japanese charred wood siding with the durability of steel products, Bridger Steel's Charred Wood is a textured finish that takes a new approach to paint finishes.
Rather than using multiple passes at the mill with different colors of paint to create a finish, this product is created by using a single color, but creating the look through a texture, similar to an embossing effect but with a much higher level of detail. The end result is a paint finish that holds up as well at 12 inches as well as it looks at 12 feet, making it a perfect option for wall panel systems, or detail oriented projects.
Currently available in a 24 Gauge G90 SMP paint system, Charred Wood is available in various panel profiles including popular wall panels systems like Ultra Batten and Tru Snap.
