Using Rusted Steel siding to achieve desired patina

Deciding When to Use Corten Steel Siding

While rusted steel sheets for siding can be an interesting and eye-catching accent to your building design, before getting into panel styles, it's important to determine whether the building location is suitable for rusted metal sheets.

Weathered Steel, while designed to rust naturally and protect the inner layers of steel, is not recommended in regions with high salinity, or within 1,000 yards of the ocean. It's still possible to use this material in those locations, but the rusting process will be rapidly increased. Rusted metal sheets work extremely well in dry, arid environments.

Rustic & Modern Panel Options

Currently, one of our most popular options for rusted metal sheets is any one of the corrugated metal panel systems. Rusty Corrugated Metal creates a look that is timeless and classic. These Rusted Steel panels provide a traditional rustic look and work well as siding.

Another popular choice for mountain or country-style homes and buildings is a vertically ran Ultra Batten panel. When this Rusted Steel panel is ran, it mimics the board and batten look found in many mountain communities. With the added touch of a Weathering Steel, it has quickly becoming our most popular rusted steel siding panels.

For modern rusted siding, using a panel like the Ultra Batten or a custom designed hidden fastener flat panel are both extremely popular options. These rusted metal sheets, when ran as siding, provide contemporary and unique accents.

Rusted Steel creates a beautiful, unique look for any home or project. No matter your design taste, incorporating rusted metal siding into your design is an amazing and easy way to achieve a one-of-a-kind aesthetic.
